GREENWOOD, Miss. — The City of Greenwood is accepting final bids Tuesday for an 88,000-square-foot distribution facility in the Greenwood-Leflore Industrial Park, putting a sizable piece of existing industrial property on the market as local officials work to attract additional business investment.

The HDW Building is located at 1100 Sycamore Avenue in Greenwood.

The Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation announced that sealed bids for the property are due to the Greenwood City Clerk’s Office by 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6. LinkedIn

The economic-development organization has been actively marketing the building as an available industrial site and is offering prospective bidders access to the bid package and opportunities to tour the property.

Existing industrial buildings can be important tools in economic-development recruitment because companies considering expansion or relocation may be able to move into an established facility more quickly than they could build a new operation from the ground up.

The HDW property is located within the Greenwood-Leflore Industrial Park, placing it in an area already intended for commercial and industrial activity.

The property is not the only large industrial facility currently being marketed in Greenwood.

The Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation has also recently promoted a separate 186,000-square-foot light-manufacturing facility at 706 James Hargrove Street Rear. That property is being marketed for sale or lease. LinkedIn

Together, the listings illustrate the inventory Greenwood has available as economic-development officials seek companies that could make use of existing manufacturing, warehousing and distribution space.

Tuesday’s deadline specifically concerns the city-owned HDW Building.

Sealed bids must be submitted by 2 p.m. to the Office of the City Clerk at Greenwood City Hall, 101 W. Church Street.
